Blue Zones

WHAT IS BLUE ZONES PROJECT?

Informed and inspired by the world’s longest-lived cultures, our mission is to empower everyone, everywhere to live longer, healthy better life.

The purpose of this project was to build BLUE ZONES CHALLENGE mobile app, where participants track all metrics associated to BLUE ZONES CHALLENGE and continuing to live the Blue Zones life. These metrics presented as a checklist tool for people to track and record their daily Blue Zones activities every day, week, month, and more.

HOW WE DID IT?

Koalaty Studio was thrilled to be chosen by a development company to design the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) for the Blue Zones Challenge mobile app. The Blue Zones Challenge is a program that helps people adopt healthy habits inspired by communities known for exceptional longevity.

Focus on User Experience: Building a Simple and Effective App
Our core mission was to create a user-centered app that aligns with Human-Centered Design methods. Understanding our target audience was paramount, so we developed user personas to identify their needs and pain points.

Wireframing: An Iterative Process for Optimal Design
Through a thorough analysis of project requirements and the target audience, we began the wireframing process. This involved creating low-fidelity wireframes to explore layout and navigation options. We then conducted usability testing with stakeholders and potential users to gather valuable feedback. This iterative process ensured the design addressed user needs and resulted in an intuitive and easy-to-navigate app.

From Wireframes to Development: A Collaborative Approach
Once the basic layout and navigation were finalized, high-fidelity wireframes were created to provide a detailed blueprint for the development team. This ensured all app features and functionalities were clearly defined. User feedback and testing continued throughout the wireframing process, allowing for adjustments before development began.

A Cohesive Visual Identity: Reflecting Wellness Through Design
The style guide for the Blue Zones Challenge app uses a primary blue and secondary yellow color scheme. This reflects the Blue Zones brand and creates a consistent visual identity. The calming blue is used prominently throughout the app, while the energetic yellow highlights important elements and encourages user engagement. Neutral colors like white and gray create a clean look and provide visual contrast.

Simple and Readable Typography
The app uses a clean and modern sans-serif typeface that ensures readability across various screen sizes.

Improvements made:

  • Stronger opening Start with a benefit-oriented introduction highlighting the app's purpose.

  • Conciseness Trim unnecessary details while maintaining key information.

  • Focus on user value Emphasize how the design benefits the user experience.

  • Active voice Use active voice for a more engaging tone.

Streamlined structure Combine relevant sections for better flow.

Overall, the Blue Zones Challenge mobile app prioritizes a user-friendly experience with a design that is both visually appealing and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
